A better way to share and manage photos

by Tricia

I’ve just come cross a site that is a combination of a photo management and storage website as well as a social network. The site is called Pixamo and it’s located at www.pixamo.com. The site sounds like it’s not only a great way to manage your photos but also a way to connect with friends, and meet people who share common interests.

Membership with Pixamo is free at this time, although they might create paid accounts at some point in the future.

What I like about the site is that if offers complete control over your photographs- who sees them – only you?, friends? or everyone?

Oh and their tagging system. Pixamo strongly encourages it’s members to tag photos with keywords that describe the photo, in that way, photos are grouped together by their tags rather than having folder upon folder of photos that may or may not go together.

For example. If I upload a number of photos – some of Toronto’s lovely beach, some of the flowers and plants in my garden and others that were of my family, if I tagged them appropriately I’d be able to simply click on the keyword flower, or garden and every photo that I’ve tagged with the keyword photo or garden would come up for me to view. I really like using a simple method like this to find and sort my photographs.

If you’ve marked your photos for public viewing other members of Pixamo can find both you and your photos when they search the site. You might make new friends when you discover others with common interests such as gardening.

So, if you are like me and have a lot of photographs stored on your computer, why not upload them onto Pixamo and share some of them with others who might be interested in seeing your photos?

Switch to video conferencing for better business communication

by Tricia

If you run a business or work for a business that often uses some form of tele-conferencing you might be interested in the site that I’ve just visited. It’s called Lifesize and they specialize in business communication systems from truly lifesize Video Conference in High definition to a product called Lifesize Phone which provides audio conferencing in high definition audio.

I suppose that not every business would be able to afford or need HD Video Conferencing at the moment but I wouldn’t doubt that most can and should make room in the budget to get HD audio conferencing. It’s definitely something to keep in mind as your company grows and as video conferencing becomes more and more popular as a way for businesses to communicate with their branches, representatives and clients. Compared to the old fashioned land line way of audio conferencing with static or being unable to hear all of the participants in the room clearly, HD audio is crisp and clear. HD audio uses 16 always on, circular array microphones with true CD quality sound.

HD video conferencing can be used on it’s own, or combined with the HD video conferencing equipment for extraordinary conferencing every time Lifesize’s products are used.

Get the most out of your large screen TV

by Tricia

I have a large screen TV, mine is a DLP, and I’ve just come across the PixelProtector – Screen Burn Removal and Dead Pixel Fixer, and I think I’m going to take a serious look at this product.

This is a product- on DVD, that’s designed for owners of LCD, Plasma and rear- projection flat screen televisions. A wide range of tools are used to measure your sets image quality and range of formats and resolutions. The software uses test signals that allow you to adjust you screens picture to it’s full potential. It’s hard to see with your own eye if you have any colour bleed, or dot crawl, but using the information provided on the DVD you’ll be able to calibrate your picture and remove these errors. With this DVD and it’s test signals you can fix screen burn, and dead pixels.

I remember when I was doing some research before we decided to purchase our DLP tv, that I read about similar software on some forums. At that time I don’t think there was a product that you could actually purchase to assist with calibrating your picture and image quality. I think most of the software being discussed were programs created by some of the techie users. Perhaps one of those people even created the Pixelprotector software that I’m telling you about now. This really is a complete video test reference and maintenance tool.

These types of TVs are expensive. It’s worth having a DVD that helps you make sure that your picture is of the best quality isn’t it? After all you paid a lot of money to have that fantastic picture- why not be sure that that’s what you’re getting?

Here’s what Pixelprotector.com has to say about their product:

Whether your screen is new or you purchased your TV 3 or more years ago, PixelProtector is an essential tool for removing screen burn, correctly calibrating the screen for optimal performance and gaining the best possible picture your unit
has to offer.

Check it out if you are a large screen TV owner.
