Trying to make plans for our bathroom reno project

by Tricia

Once my husband and I complete our living room dining room renovation project it will be time to move on to the next project. We won’t be taking a break in between projects since the living room dinning room reno has taken forever and has been more break than work lately.

I’ve love to work on our upstairs bathroom. It’s so small! At this point I haven’t decided whether we’ll work with the very small space that we have or if we’ll knock down a wall and expand the bathroom. Obviously knocking down a wall and expanding would be what I’d prefer to do as we’d be able to have a very nice upstairs bathroom if we did that.

Still … it’s a much bigger project in every way from expenses to the amount of work that would have to be done. We’d have to move the pipes and drains and so on. I’m not sure we’re up for that right now. Not on our own anyway.

So, if I were to stick with just renovating the small space that we currently have I think that it might be best to take out the bathtub altogether and install a very nice shower. Ideally I think something like this shower would work well in our small space. I think it would take a little less room than a bathtub so we’d be able to put a upright cabinet in the bathroom as well.

Right now we’ve just got a toilet, bathtub with makeshift shower and a very small sink with an under sink storage cabinet.

Speaking of sinks I’d love to get a new sink. One that looks like a beautiful bowl sitting on a table or counter with wall mount taps above the bowl. That would look beautiful.

I’ve actually been looking at the selection of bathroom tubs, showers, taps, furnishings and accessories at www.Taps4Less.com to get some ideas for our bathroom renovation project.

As you can tell I don’t have any definite plans for this upcoming project. It’s going to be a difficult project whether we keep the bathroom as is or expand.

Any ideas?

Handcrafted picnic tables in a variety of quality woods

If you’re shopping for new patio furniture or possible a wooden picnic table that compliments your existing outdoor furniture you should visit allpicnictables.com.

allpicnictables7_01.jpg They have a wide selection of high quality picnic tables in a variety of woods such as cedar, pine, select pine, cherry, oak and teak.

If you’re like me, when you think of a picnic table you probably think of the traditional style like the red cedar one off to the right, but you can also browse through All Picnic Tables selection of round, square, rectangular, oval and hexagon shaped picnic tables. Plus, if you’d like a more modern look you can find vinyl, coated metal, aluminum, polywood and galvanized steel tables too.

Each of their wooden tables are hand crafted using quality woods.

They are made to withstand years of outdoor use. Allpicnictables.com is a division of CedarStore.com which was first established in 1992 in the western PA area. Due to their products high quality and craftsmanship it’s not surprising that their tables and other products are being ordered from all areas of the continental USA. If you like their tables, but you aren’t in the USA don’t worry.

You can arrange for international shipping.

Chris and I already have a very nice patio set, but I noticed that Allpicnictables.com also sells table benches, patio chairs, furniture covers, patio umbrellas and even garden benches. I decided to take a look at the garden benches and discovered this beautiful three person Wicker Sofa. Isn’t it beautiful?

sofas_3896.jpg I’d love to have an outdoor sofa in my beautiful garden and I wouldn’t mind having that specific sofa. You can even select from a variety of fabrics for the sofa cushions so you’ll be sure to get something that suits your tastes and perhaps goes with your other outdoor furniture pieces. There are other wicker furniture pieces to choose from as well.

Overall I’m quite pleased by the selection of quality outdoor furniture and handcrafted picnic tables at allpicnictables.com. The prices are reasonable too. Visit the site and see how beautiful their outdoor furniture is with your own eyes.

Reclaimed teak furniture

by Tricia

We have a hand crafted teak table. It’s made out of recovered or reclaimed teak. Since teak is a protected wood in many countries, yet still a product that many nations continue to rely on to fuel their economy some manufacturers of teak furniture have taken to using recovered teak wood. I really like the fact that this beautiful table that we purchased is made from reclaimed wood.

Our table was created out of what looks like thick teak branches that might have fallen to the forest floor, and perhaps part of a tree trunk – hopefully one that had been cut many years in the past.

It has a very irregular shape, but it’s absolutely beautiful.

I don’t have any good photos of it right now, but I’m going to be refinishing the table shortly so I’ll take some before and after photos so you can see how weathered it looks after sitting in my garden through the summer and how I rejuvenate it each year with a coat of danish teak oil.

I just went looking online to see if I could find anything quite like it so I could show you how beautiful my table is, but I was unsuccessful. I can’t believe how hard it was to find anything remotely similar.

Sometime this week I’ll get my sanding paper out and lightly rub down the table with some fine sand paper, clean it off with a tack cloth and then oil it. It’s almost like magic how beautiful the table looks after I give it this treatment that perhaps only takes an hour of my time.

Have you ever refinished furniture that you own? Or perhaps furniture that you’ve purchased used, or at a flea market that needs refinishing before it can really be put to good use?
