Did the local groundhog in your area see his shadow today or not?<\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"369\" height=\"277\" alt=\"wiartonwillie.jpg\" id=\"image404\" src=\"https:\/\/feverishthoughts.com\/garden\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/02\/wiartonwillie.jpg\" \/><\/div>\n<p>Confused about ground hog day? Well, it&#8217;s said that Groundhog day grew mainly out of a German superstition that if a hibernating animal casts a shadow on February second, the Christian holiday of Candlemas, that winter will last for another six weeks. However, if no shadow is seen it&#8217;s said that spring will come early.<\/p><!--CusAds-->\n<div class=\"912745ff53504cd4aef8ff3ef7b9aa95\" data-index=\"2\" style=\"float: right; margin:10px 0 10px 10px;\">\n<script type=\"text\/javascript\"><!--\r\ngoogle_ad_client = \"pub-3375789278566919\";\r\n\/* gardengrows_300x250inpost *\/\r\ngoogle_ad_slot = \"4054669721\";\r\ngoogle_ad_width = 300;\r\ngoogle_ad_height = 250;\r\n\/\/-->\r\n<\/script>\r\n<script type=\"text\/javascript\"\r\nsrc=\"http:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/show_ads.js\">\r\n<\/script>\n<\/div>\n\n<p>We have a few groundhogs here in Ontario that we keep an eye on, on Feb. 2nd. Wiarton Willie is probably Canada&#8217;s most famous Groundhog.<\/p>\n<p>For the record. I&#8217;m writing this post at 2:15 a.m. February 2nd. Obviously it&#8217;s dark out right now.
