Rap Lyrics, well they are a mystery to me and many others out there I’m sure. I’ve tried to listen and I do get a few words here and there, but that’s it. Am I alone on this one?
I have no idea on how to approach this subject, but there are some sites that have come to my attention that may help me/us figure it out … or at least get a better handle on this topic.
First there is this site called Understand Rap. I kinda went through it … but eventually got a head ache and gave up.
Then, there is a buddy of mine who may or may not help us out here. He has this thing called a blog and this blog thing seems to be taken off, so I hear, on this other thing called the InterWeb? It’s just a little bitty example to use as a very rough reference, so I/we should take what we can get!

Rap music lyrics really depend upon the artist. For a long time I resisted listening because I couldn’t catch all the words on the radio. Then I started to read the lyrics such as those by Eminem and as an English major in college I must say I’ve been a fan ever since. True, there is a lot of crap lyrics out there about ho’s, guns, booty, etc. but there are also many pearls amongst the swine.

With the direction rap has taken, there is nothing to understand. It’s all money and bitches nowadays.

Kenyan, that is what I’ve been thinking it’s all about!
When rap first came out I listened to the lyrics and I thought to myself, wow that a neat way of looking at a certain subject! So considering that I am not big on lyrics of songs, I left it at that.
Today when I pay attention to the words it sounds like most of the lyrics are just F—ed up! Some of these rappers are in need of some serious help! Maybe some of them were beat up by their little sisters when they were young, OH!!!!
Thanx for the comment Kenyan Music Guru.
Buy Exclusive Beats says
I disagree. Rap isn’t money and bitches and nowadays. Maybe it is, if you turn on the radio or tv, but there are still artists out there, who try to be innovative and actually have something to say.

You know Buy Exclusive Beats(BEB), I am changing my attitude towards Rap. Maybe it’s because I tended to respond like other people of my age and just turn on the blinders.
After hanging out with some kids who love rap and then having them explain the finer points of the genre, then it all starts to come together. Even music like Jazz was at one time considered the devils music by the elders of the day. Today it shows that the people listening and playing Jazz hold a certain musical mystic or held in higher regards?
I apologize to you if I offended you or your genre in any way BEB!
Keep on Jammin’ my friend!
