How long should an election take

This past Sunday, the Prime Minister of Canada, dissolved the government, thus opening the door for an October 14th Federal Election. From start to finish, the process will take 37 days.

This, I promise, will be a short (just like me) general post!

My wife in I live in the Danforth area of Toronto, which happens to be in Jack Layton’s NDP ridings. The biggest musical supporters are the Barenaked Ladies, which I find outlandishly entertaining! I’ve never seen them live before, but I hope to ends this little streak soon.

So my question here is, why does it take America about 2 years to do it? To us Canadians, it seems like the US elections has been dragging on for years now. This isn’t a regular length of time, is it? Why is it taking so long?

HUGE propane explosion in Toronto

There has been a HUGE propane explosion in Toronto‘s North end had occurred around 03:25 and then 03:50. It has effected about 12,500 people in the immediate area. The injured ones have been taken to North York General Hospital. The shelters were sent to York University Campus.

Toronto has closed the busiest highway in North America – the 401. This has never been done before.

My sister in-law’s son and husband live around a football field length away from the blast. He said that when he woke up and went outside, all he saw was like a scene from a war documentary. There were blooded people running up and down the street obviously in a state of shook.

A fire fighter has just been confirmed without vital signs on City Pulse 24. My God have mercy on his soul and may his soul rest in peace if this is true.

The company is called Sunrise Propane, and what a sunrise it was for this company! At this link, look for the “A” symbol for the exact location. It’s fairly close to our home, but far away enough that it does not effect us immediately! There were confirmed stories of people who live in Niagara on the Lake have seen a mushroom like light seen coming from Toronto! That is quite a far distance from where the explosion took place!

The second coming of Jon

Just got off the old blower, that’s what we use to call the phone, with my old buddy Jon and he says that he needs a fix of Toronto back into his blood! We’re looking forward to seeing his old mug around the homestead here. hopefully it won’t be as expensive as the last time he was here.

The first time he here at our newish home, it was a long weekend. We had a few beverages and started to get a little hungry. So off we went to the grocery store and we happened to come across this store that sold fire works, what a bad mistake on our wallets this venture was going to be! By the time we left the store, we were about $220.00 richer in fire works. Oh well, we had fun and no one lost an eye.

So here’s to more action packed adventure with big Jon(Johnnie), aka Pinhead, and this time let’s really get a guitar lesson in ok buddy? Stay tuned for more updates.

So who is and isn’t a musician here

I was just wondering to myself today about how many of you, my good readership, are musicians and who isn’t. I’d like to know for a number of reasons. No, this is not to embarrass anyone or start some kind of mid evil Inquisition folks.

It’s just to:

(1) to tailor topics.
(2) and concentrate on certain categories

Just a simple answer would do here folks, nothing earth shattering.

You could state “Musician” or “Non-Musician”. What instruments you play and maybe what type of gear you have. If your a “non-Musician”, then tell us what genre of music gets you going! If you have any interesting or entertaining events might be good for a laugh, I know we all have 1 or 2 of them up our sleeves!

So state your case and get back to us … we’re waiting!

I’m going to rake the snow off the yard now

Why have us Canadians been so cranky lately? Well it all has to do with the over abundance of white stuff all over the place. Ok some of you guys in the US, yes we’ll include you as well!

We’ve had it up to here, I mean the height of our glacier on our front yard, with all that blowing snow and cold temperatures stuff! For crying out loud, yesterday we took the dog for a walk at Cherry Beach in Toronto and we thought it was warm out, it was only 1 (C)!!! Lucky for us this is about a 10 minute drive from out house.

All we want is to go out to an outdoor patio, ones that don’t mind our puppy too much, and have a drink and something to eat relax and plus bath in the warmth of the sun.

What did we do to you Mother Nature to have you soooo pissed off at us? Please reply back soon!

Saga, 30th Anniversary Tour

I was made aware of the Saga concert on the morning of the show.

Tony, God bless that guy, called me on Saturday morning and asked if we were going to see them that night. I had told him that I knew nothing of the show and hung up to get some tickets on-line.

My wife was not feeling up to going to the show so I naturally decided to contact my keyboardist friend Rick to drag him along.

The tickets were $20.00 Can. the seating was in general admission. We were one the first one’s there so we decided to stand beside the stage. We waited for a long time until Tony,the old keyboardist from Pylis and his beautiful wife Laurie to meet us there.

Last time we saw Saga live was around 2 years ago at the Hard Rock Cafe in downtown Toronto. That night we stood on the right side of the stage were Ian Crichton the guitarist traditionally played. Tony wanted us to be on Ian’s side of the stage so I could be amazed by his wizardry. At this point I was recovering from a heart problem and I thought that it was really nice of my old buddy to be thinking in this way!

This time I thought we should be on the keyboardist Jim Gilmour’s side because of Tony’s nice gesture the last time we saw the boys in the band.

We were around 15 feet, yes 15 feet away from him and it was wonderful vantage point to see the band from. Tony couldn’t have been happier.
