(3) Officials in Springfield, Vt., denied the liquor-license application of Paul Murphy in July for a paperwork problem without specifying any other disqualifying reason. The officials thus ignored the fact that Murphy is an inmate in the state correctional facility in Springfield and that the location of the liquor service on the application was to be Murphy’s prison address. This should provide a boost to the hemp industry. Cannabis sativa, which is usually used for fibre/seed(oil) production is contentiously thought to produce very little THC. However, that contention around it is enough to prevent some countries from allowing Cannabis cultivation for hemp production, and make other countries allow it only under strict licensing.
The articles I could find about this however, don’t say how he “invented” the plant. If it was done using GM technology then thats going to provide enough contention to stop his variety from going into commercial production in most places. Also, they didn’t really produce a drug-free variety, the article says that it only contains trace elements of THC. That just might not be good enough for some governments either.
