Watch out! it’s another jumper!

I suppose if you wanted to kill yourself there are hundreds of different ways to do it, but did you know that in Japan – who’s suicide rate is high, the most popular method of killing one’s self is to leap to their death.

Sorry, that wouldn’t be my first choice!

I guess this choice of suicide is dangerous for pedestrians as well. In April an 18 year old woman jumped to her death from a nine story Tokyo building. Unfortunately she landed on a 60 year old pedestrian who was walking by at the time. Luckily he only suffered bruises. Same for a 27 year old man who was landed on by a 39 year old jumper in May 2000. This last event also happened in Tokyo so I guess if your visiting the city stay away from high buildings!






Ain’t nuthin but a hound dog

basset_hound.jpg My wife wrote a post on her site about how she wants us to get a dog one day. She’s got her eye set on a Boston Terrier, but I don’t know, if we were ever to get a dog I think that I might like a Basset Hound. I think they’re more my kind of dog.

Since she’s getting her heart set on a new pet I decided to do a bit of research and found myself on The Dog Guide. Just as I suspected they say that while Basset Hounds have been bred to be hunting dogs,commonly hunting animals such as the hare, rabbit, fox, pheasant, and opossum, they are also a generally calm and easy going breed.

We’re hoping to have children so if we decide to get a dog it must be a breed that’s known to get along well with young children and luckily the Basset Hound does have that reputation. They can be stubborn, but overall tend to be very affectionate dogs where their owner is concerned.

Since I’ve had a few scares with larger dogs I’m not interested in getting a large dog, so again the basset being a medium sized dog is perfect for our needs.

We enjoy being outside and so does the Basset Hound. It’s apparently a bit of a lazy dog while indoors, but like most dogs quite enjoys it’s time outside. I’m pretty sure if we got one it would not only get daily walks but some time outside in our garden.

If the Basset Hound gets a moderate amount of exercise and isn’t allowed to get heavy it sounds like it might have few problems as it ages. One that does gain weight or gets out of shape can get weak hind legs due to the strain of it’s long body. This weakness can even lead to paralysis. Foot infections and eye ailments occurs occasionally as well.

Compared to some dogs that seem to have a lot of problems as they age the Basset hound doesn’t sound like a hard breed to care for if you keep them in shape and I suppose keep an eye out for foot and eye problems.

I don’t know if, or when we might get a dog, but it certainly doesn’t hurt to do some research in advance to find a dog breed that suites your lifestyle.

Now I’ve gotta see if I can change my wifes mind about her choice of dogs.

I’ve always enjoyed cars, trucks – vehicles of any kind really. I appreciate the workmanship and style especially of some of the fine cars.

Perhaps you enjoy nice cars as well? I know some people are quite the enthusiasts – purchasing car magazines regularly, going to car shows, collecting models and when possible, if they have the income even collecting a variety of cars.

Well I can’t afford to purchase a high end vehicle but I can dream.

If you dream of nice cars like I do you might be interested in visiting Vcars. Vcars is a company that specializes in helping clients find Used Cars. They have a network of over 50 manufacturer specific websites such as Audi, Honda, Ford, Vauxhall, and Volkswagen and they can help you find a used car in your area.

My favorite part of their site is downloads area. You can download screensavers and wallpapers for all of the major vehicle manufactures.

Since one of my favorite cars is the Porsche I gravitated towards that area to see what kind of Porsche Wallpapers they had.

I found four different Porche Wallpapers. You can download the Porsche Gemballa GTR 650 Avalanche Wallpaper, Porsche Cayenne Wallpaper, Porsche 911 Turbo Wallpaper and the Porsche Boxster Wallpaper. All of the wallpapers are of a steely blue design as if you were looking at the car at night time under street lights.

My favorite model out of that selection is the Porsche 911 Turbo. You can download the 911 or any of the wallpapers in a size that suits your computer monitor settings from 1280×1024, 1024×768 to 800×600. Just select the size you’d like and you’ll be taken to a new page with the correct wallpaper size where you can right click over the image and download it to your desktop or save as wallpaper right then and there.

I also like the fact that if you wanted to send one of the wallpapers or a screensaver to a friend you can simply fill out a form beside your download selection and send it to whomever you’d like.

The image that I included above is the Porche Screensaver. It’s a dynamic screensaver with a calendar and clock built right into it. I think it’s great. You can download the screensaver in a version for a PC, osX or Linux.
