Did you know that last year the Texas State Legislature passed a bill allowing the blind to hunt? Of course they must bring a sighted companion along and also use a laser guide to aide their shot.
Apparently when using the laser guide all one has to do is point the laser where they think the animal is and there sighted companion can tell them if their shot is lined up. I’m not sure how that’s all that different than just trusting the sighted companions eyes …
I guess as long as it’s not the blind leading the blind …

As a native Texan (currently displaced in Virginia), this doesn’t surprise me at all. Hunting and football are king in Texas. If you don’t hunt, you must be a whimp. Apparently I’m a whimp. 🙂
I think some states (maybe even Texas) allow blind people to drive cars. Certain types of blind people can see ok at close range, and they can see long range with special binoculars. So they drive along, peering through their binoculars every so often.

Hmmm, I think I wont wonder off the beaten path next time I am in Texas. This sounds really scary, I hope they are not allowed to hunt without supervision.

Unbelievable that in Texas the blind are given permission to hunt. It seems silly and very scary. Hope that some one is truly suprvising them.
