Have you ever wished that you could easily make a conference call to your family or friends? It’s not easy for a regular home owner to do this without paying for extra services on their already expensive monthly phone bill. At least in where we are that’s the case. Wouldn’t it be nice if you could make group calls absolutely free of charge?
I’ve got good news for you if you have been thinking it would be nice to talk to a group of friends in the same call. A company called Foonz – pronounced Phones – has created a free online program that lets you set up group calls easily and totally free of charge. With the holidays coming I can see many people using this service to make group calls to plan their family get togethers between family members that are out of town.
I know I’ll use the service to talk with my brother in Chicago. Actually I can set up a group call between my parents and my brother in Chicago so that we can talk about his arrival in the area at Christmas time. He wants me to pick up hockey tickets around that time so that we can attend a game together and it’s been confusing listening to my dad tell me one thing and my brother tell me something else. If we are all able to talk on the phone at once maybe we can get this straightened out.
So how do you get started? Simple, sign up for free at the foonz web site , and quickly and easily set up a contact list where you can set up various groups of people that you might like to speak with using the Foonz service.
When you want to start a group call you simply call the number that Foonz gave you when you signed up with the service, and Foonz will tell you how to start your group call when you use that number. Select the group that you want to create a group call between and Foonz will send out email, cell, and or IM messages to members of the group inviting them to join in the call. Each member of the group will be given a Foonz phone number to call so that they can connect to the group conversation. When they dial the number they are automatically joined to the group call that is in progress. If perhaps someone that you invite into the group call can’t make it you’ll be able to leave them a message.
Doesn’t the Foonz service sound great? I’ve given my own example of how I plan to use Foonz but I can think of a number of other good reasons to use the service to make a group call – Students could make group calls and study together over the phone, family members that don’t see each other often could start to have regular group calls. The possibilities are endless.
Why don’t you try Foonz out for yourself and tell me what you think?
