Confederate Dress
Now I always thought that going to your prom meant getting dressed up in a fancy gown, having a great date to enjoy the night with, partying with your friends and perhaps being chauffeured around in your first ever limo rental.
Am I right? Isn’t that what most girls dream of for prom night?
Well it seems that Jacqueline Duty, of Lexington, Ky. had slightly different thoughts. She wanted to celebrate her heritage by wearing a Confederate flag prom dress. It seems to School district didn’t like her choice of Prom wear and they decided to ban her from the prom. This took place back in 2004. Jacqueline sued the school district and the county and won an out of court settlement valued at $50,000.
Poor girl, she missed the prom but ended up with a windfall!
