This weeks theme is Smelly
As cute as these kittens are, sitting in their matching boots, I can’t help, but imagine that those boots are probably pretty smelly.

Did you know that new regulations came into effect in Beijing China that will affect cab drivers? Apparently drivers whose cabs are smelly will be suspended for two days while they undergo “rectification and reform” guidance.
The city is trying to improve it’s image before next years Olympics. Cabbies can be banned for such things as spitting or smoking, wearing big earrings, outrageous dress styles or radical hairstyles.
“Many drivers pay no attention to appearances. Their mouths stink of garlic and their bodies smell, making the whole cab foul. It creates a bad impression for the taxi industry,†Yao Kuo, head of the transportation management office, was quoted as saying.
“As a service industry, taxis have to think about appearances. So from now on, dying hair a bright red or yellow and making weird hairdos is banned,†Yao said. Shi Xiangpeng, a top political adviser, complained bitterly about the odor of Beijing’s taxis. “Sometimes I could smell an unbearable stink once I got into the cab,†he was quoted by Xinhua news agency as saying.

CLOVIS, N.M. — Employees at the Curry County courthouse are crying fowl over a stench that has permeated the building since recent rains mixed with pigeon droppings on the roof and dripped into offices.
County Maintenance Supervisor Lee Delk said the ceiling seeped because a mud-like substance — created when water blended with droppings — clogged drains and leaked into the building through fallen ceiling tiles.
“It was nasty,” Delk said. “We cleaned up about a gallon, but it smelled like a ton and a half.”
Employees opened windows and used air-freshener sprays. Each office is equipped with an air purifier.
Delk said about 50 pigeons live on the courthouse rooftop. Many residents enjoy feeding the birds, so the county has tried to deal with the birds humanely.
“We have used nontoxic chemical spray and hired an individual to do live trapping,” Delk said. “But they keep coming back.”
Juan Gonzales of Clovis said he would hate to see a pigeon-free downtown. A retiree, he visits Main Street a few times each month, bread bag in hand, to feed the birds on the sidewalks.
“They need somewhere to live, and I like to watch them eat and fly,” Gonzales said.
County officials plan to construct a modified rubber roof identical to one on the Curry County Juvenile Detention Center. Delk said for some reason, the pigeons won’t nest there.
“It’s all in a day’s work,” he said. “We deal in poo every day.”

A Sticky Situation For Two Men:
A Southern California man took two men hostage at gunpoint, stripped them naked, bound their hands together with super glue and poured glue into their mouths, police said on Friday.
Rene Avila, 36, was arrested early on Friday after releasing his hostages during the night. They were treated at the scene and released.
The motive behind the bizarre incident was unclear but police speculate a possible relationship among the three may have triggered Avila’s behavior.
“There was some kind of dispute there and he put the super glue in their mouths before calling his sister.” Los Angeles police LT. Ernest Eskridge said.”We don’t know if that was his cry for help.”
Wow! Super glue is bad enough if you get it on your fingers or hand, but in your MOUTH!
A foul place to live:
Charlotte: Utility workers trying to blast out a grease clog from a sewer line forced 3,000 gallons of raw sewage into a couple’s home. forcing them to abandon their house while hoping that the city makes good on a promise to clean up and repair the damage.
Mac and Meg McCormick say city leaders have also promised to pay for their stay in a hotel until the repairs are complete.
The couple doesn’t have any of the agreement in writing, and city officials have declined to discuss the case because it’s ongoing.
“We feel we have no choice but to put our trust and faith in the hands of the city” Meg McCormick said this week as movers hauled damaged furniture from her house. “And I’ll be honest. that’s a little scary.”
Scott Denham, the risk manager for Charlotte and Mecklenburg County, declined to discuss the details of the sewage backup, but did say, “There’s no question of the severity of this event.” City officials don’t even know how much the repairs and cleanup will cost, Denham said.
