I took this photo of a Blue Jay in my in-laws backyard. To date it’s the only Blue Jay picture I’ve managed to take! The one thing that I like about visiting the in-laws is that they tend to have lots of birds in their backyard – Blue Jays, Cardinals, Mourning doves and many others.
we aren’t supposed to have blue jays. We have stellar jays.
Two years ago I had a blue jay pair that came to my feeder every day for 4 months. But they didn’t come back this year.

Terrific photo! We have a family of these guys that hang around our yard every year, but are shy and almost impossible to catch in a photo, and certainly never in such a great profile pose! [We also get quite a few cardinals, and for some reason they are less skittish and thus easier to photograph.] Congrats!
