This is a beautiful antique rose with a scent that I’m certain has been incorporated into several perfumes over the last century or two. It has a beautiful damask scent that wafts through the garden in the early and late morning hours.

Yes, this is a Black Hollyhock.
Isn’t it’s dark glossy petals beautiful?
I grow this dark horse of a hollyhock between my lovely Compte de Chambord antique roses, Japanese Maple and the raspberries so it’s surrounded by shades of red and pink. It looks quite lovely among it’s companions.
Graham Thomas blooms
A few photos back I posted a photo of a perfect Graham Thomas rose bud. Well this is the flower that, that bud would eventually turn into as this is a fully blooming Graham Thomas English rose.
Lovely multi shades of yellow from pale to bright. It’s a gorgeous rose and quite hardy.
