Spring cleaning in the garden

Now that the snow finally melted in the garden and our yard it’s time to get outside and clean up the garden.

There’s lots of dead foliage from last fall to cut down or remove.

The above photo is of a Crocosmia seedpod. I actually took the photo in the fall. The seeds wouldn’t have stayed in the pod this long! Not with the wind we have here in Toronto.

Have you started cleaning up your property too?

Hyacinth blossoms

There’s still snow on the ground here in Toronto, but it’s melting. I’m hoping it will be all but gone by sometime next week.

At this point there’s obviously no hyacinths blooming, but I can look forward to blooms like this one soon!

Do you have any spring flowers growing in yard or garden yet?

Pink petals

I took this photo of one of my beautiful pink tulips last year. The flower was just about blown and the petals were almost spread out flat.

Usually by this time of year here in Toronto the snow’s melted and some of the first flowers of spring have started to make an appearance. That’s not the case this year though. We still have a fair amount of snow. Oh it’s melting, but it will take a while before our spring flowers begin to make an appearance.

Graduation Day

In early February our Labrador Retriever puppy graduated from puppy training at Petsmart.

The last class was full of fun tests for the puppy owners and puppies alike and at the end we were given graduation caps and graduation certificates for our puppies.

Midnights grad cap was a little too big for her and she was always more than a little hyperactive at puppy training class so we had a hard time keeping the cap on her head long enough to take a good photo. The photo above makes her look like she’s fed up with having the hat on and has just given up – “take my picture already would ya”.

Have you put a puppy through puppy training? Did you get a graduation cap for your puppy to wear too?
