Beautiful Rose of Sharon bloom

I have a nice size Rose of Sharon tree in my backyard and from the last week of July through the end of August my tree was covered in these beautiful flowers. Lovely!

The Rose of Sharon tree / shrub is part of the Hibiscus family, although it’s much more hardy than a tropical Hibiscus! Ours survives our Canadian (zone 5b) winters just fine! I’m glad it does because I love it’s gorgeous blooms!

A forest field in Autumn

I think I’m avoiding winter. Notice that I haven’t posted one winter related photo … all the recent photos have been autumn related? It’s not like you can ignore a season like winter – not with all the snow we’ve had, but I’m doing my best, at least on this blog!

Again, this is a photograph of a local park that we take our dog to so that she can burn off some of that extra energy she has. She loves it and so do we, I mean, look how pretty it is, even in autumn?

Ok, I’ll try to take some winter photos … won’t be pretty though, especially since we’ve had a “warm” spell and the snows melting and everything is puddles and mud! But I’ll try.

Dog on forest path

I can’t believe I haven’t taken any winter pictures yet! It’s just been too cold here in Toronto most of this month to get outside and take some pictures of falling snow, snow covered trees or plants, icicles or any of the things that make winter pretty.

So instead I’m posting photos that I took in November … of my dog! LOL Hey, it was lovely in the park with the tree’s leaves and field grasses changing to rich yellow, gold and red colors.

Luckily when our dog is off leash she only goes about 100 yards ahead of us and then she stops and looks back at us like “hey you guys are slow, hurry up and get up here!” or else she’ll run back towards us before running on ahead again.

In this photo she’s doing her look back at us, probably wondering why we can’t keep up to her!

Twisted Branches

When I saw this tree in the forest while taking our dog for a walk I thought it was interesting. I love how it’s branches twist around the trunk. The branches doen’t all go in the same direction so it can’t be caused by wind or other forces of natures.  It’s just odd, but kind of interesting at the same time.
