The North Side of the Tree

It’s true that moss always grows on the North side of a tree.

I saw this sun dapple tree with it’s interesting bark and moss growing in the cracks while on a nature hike in the city (Toronto) on Saturday. I couldn’t resist taking a few photos of it. I love trees – particularly when they are without leaves … why, I’m not sure.

Mugo Pine branch dusted with snow

This is a snow covered Mugo Pine branch. I took this photo on the same day that I took the previous photo that I posted – right after a big snow storm here in Toronto. All of the trees were dusted with snow and it was beautiful.

I know those of you that don’t experience winter sometimes feel lucky when we complain about how cold it gets here, but snow can be a wonderful thing. Even my puppy thinks it’s fantastic!

Beach and lovely parks

This is a shot of the park that adjoins Toronto’s famous Beach area. My husband and I often visit this park and the beach year round. Of course Toronto is in a cool climate so we are at times met with snow and ice, but it’s still lovely no matter what time of year we visit.

This photo was taken on a very hot day, September 3rd, 2007.

Sign of Autumn

First signs of fall, photo take October, 9th, 2006 – the tree’s were just starting to turn on the day that I took this photo. Some years the trees start to turn as early as the beginning of September, but most years they wait until October.
