Single Purple Allium flower

I have a few clumps of purple Allium flowers growing in my front garden beds. Allium flowers are related to the onion and garlic family – however these plants are ornamental and I don’t believe that they can be eaten.

I have to remember to move the Allium that is growing at the end of my flower bed near the sidewalk this fall. I think kids walk by on their way to school and pull off the developing flower buds in mid June so I end up with these long green headless stalks instead of beautiful flowers at the end of my garden bed.

Do you grow Allium?

Delicious scent, lovely flower

Purple Hyacinth … this is the first one to bloom in my garden this year. Oh I now have several hyacinths in bloom, but this was the first to fully flower. Isn’t it lovely?

The weather was so nice last week that we had our doors and windows open most of each day. The scent of hyacinth would waft into the house every now and then. So beautiful. I love that scent.

The lighting for this photo could be better. It was a rainy overcast afternoon when I took this photo.

Spring Crocus

My crocus’ are almost finished blooming, but I did manage to capture them when they were at their finest. I love this purple and yellow combo.

Most of my crocus flowers are in little clumps in the grass beside the garden beds. I don’t know why I didn’t mix more of them, as most are clumps of just yellow or purple, which of course look lovely, but the combination is fantastic.

An exotic flower

I can’t remember the formal name of this passion flower. I bought it this past summer. I love the color of it. Most of my other passion flowers are white and blue or purple in color.

Isn’t it lovely?
