Bring on Spring!

Enough with snow and frigid weather already! Geesh!

Are you as tired of winter as I am? It’s -23 Celsius with the wind chill here in Toronto today. That’s -8 F if you don’t know the metric system. Cold huh?

It’s no wonder that I decided to post a photo of a lovely tulip that I grew in my garden last year.

I couldn’t help taking tons of photos of these tulips last year. The fiery orange just captured me and drew me in. Every time I visited my garden with camera in hand I was sure to photograph this tulip. Isn’t it lovely? Doesn’t it draw you in as well?

Mugo Pine branch dusted with snow

This is a snow covered Mugo Pine branch. I took this photo on the same day that I took the previous photo that I posted – right after a big snow storm here in Toronto. All of the trees were dusted with snow and it was beautiful.

I know those of you that don’t experience winter sometimes feel lucky when we complain about how cold it gets here, but snow can be a wonderful thing. Even my puppy thinks it’s fantastic!

Snow covered

In early January we had a big snow storm and this is what my Toronto neighborhood looked like for a while! Everything was dusted with snow.

The snow didn’t last long though. The weather warmed up and everything melted. It was darn right spring like in the middle of January … until last week when we were plunged into a deep freeze again. A deep freeze without any snow at all.

It’s been snowing again today so perhaps we’ll have a little snow cover for a few days until it melts away again.

Some Holly for Christmas

I thought I’d post this lovely photo of Holy since it’s the Christmas season.

I grow this plant in my small garden. The holy hasn’t grown much since I planted it about four years ago so it’s only about 2.5 feet tall, but it produces lovely red berries each autumn and has beautiful glossy leaves all year round.
