Doesn’t it look like this trillium’s trying to get out of the way of the camera lense or like it’s doing it’s best imitation of “Walk like an Egyptian”?

I took this photo on May 1st and the trillium still looks about the same. It will probably bloom sometime next week.

The tulips are still going strong! There’s even more now than there was when I took this photo a week ago:

I hope that your garden is looking lovely this weekend.

New York Asters

Now that the weathers beginning to cool most of the plants in my garden are beginning to die down but the New York asters still look pretty good. Not quite as good as they do in this photo which was taken about a month ago or so, but they still look nice enough.

Over the next week or so I’m going to be going out in the garden to trim plants and prepare the garden for winter. I hope it’s not too cold outside when I do my garden winterizing!

The sunflowers survived

Remember all those sunflowers that I had to chop down to only three feet in early September because I got a citation from the city saying they were too tall?

Well, they lived after they were brutally chopped and they’ve continued to produce blooms.

I really thought the sunflowers would die after having half their height or more chopped off, but they survived. I suppose if they were the kind that only produced one flower they wouldn’t have made it, but the kind I grow has multiple flower heads and stems.

Are your sunflowers still blooming?

Update – the story about how and why we had to cut down our sunflowers is here and here.
