House sitting robot

by Tricia

How would you like this House Sitting robot to help protect your home?

The robot was created in Japan, and just like a watchdog it protects your home from intruders. The robot can be programed to take pictures of intruders and send them to your phone. Unfortunately it doesn’t blare an alarm, or call the police for you, but it can stream a live feed of your home intruder so you can watch and capture what they are doing in your home.

Protect sensitive data with SecureZIP

by Tricia

I just downloaded a program from www.securezip.com called SecureZIP. I can now easily use this program to protect sensitive data on my computer or laptop from prying eyes.

“SecureZIP – The next generation of ZIP”

SecureZip is a data security software program that allows users to protect files and folders on their hard drives, portable storage devices, and laptops from theft or unauthorized access. Email attachments can also be protected with SecureZIP as well.

How does it work? It uses strong passphrase or digital certificate-based encryption to protect the files and folders that you want to secure. Secured files are also compressed when secureZIP is enforced.

I’m going to use the free copy of SecureZIP that I just downloaded to protect the tax files that I just finished completing yesterday. I’ll also use it to protect some of the spreadsheets that I use to record my earnings, as well as my banking statements and the medical files that I’ve stored on my hard drive.

Why do I need this kind of protection? It’s not like we have strangers walking through our house everyday … or is it?

We use a wireless router to provide an internet and network connection for our laptop. Wireless networks are not all that secure, and that means that anyone nearby or driving my in their car who actively trying to find an unsecured wireless network could tap into my internet connection and likely my network. See … I literally could have strangers traipsing through my files if I weren’t careful.

I have set up my wireless network with security protection, but if that were to fail all of my data could be vulnerable. Why take the chance? Now that I have this free software I can encrypt and compress the files on my system that deserve such protection.

I also like the fact that if I needed to send files to my accountant, the bank or perhaps my mortgage broker I could send them as an attachment in an email message since SecureZip integrates with Microsoft Outlook.

If you’d also like to protect sensitive files on your home or office systems or networks why don’t you download a copy of SecureZIP today? For a limited time they are offering fully licensed copies of their software. That’s right – it’s a full version. Not a limited or trial version of SecureZIP. It’s the full software program and it’s free.

Downloading the software was a snap. I just gave them my email address and minutes later I had an email message that contained a link that enabled me to download the software to my hard drive. The download was an .exe file so all I had to do was click on it to begin the installation and follow the directions that it gave me as it installed itself.

WordPress plugin – comment on site and by email at same time

by Tricia

A few hours ago I came across a plugin that I think is just thrilling! I hope that you will too. Owen, from Ugh’s!! Greymatter Honeypot has create a wordpress plugin that he’s called the comment email responder.

What is it? Simply put it allows you to both comment on your site and fire off an email with the same wording to a specific commenter on your site.

How does it work? It’s a plugin that, once activated and set up with your return email address and few other simple options, will place a small envelope icon beside the name of anyone that leaves you a comment on a post. I believe only the site administrator can see these icons beside the commentators names. When you want to respond to a comment just click on the icon beside the persons name. The cursor will move the comment box. Write your comment within your post as you normally would do and submit. When you submit your comment a copy of what you just wrote will be sent to the persons whose envelope icon you clicked.

Doesn’t that sound great?

Often when I get comments on my various sites I’ll send an email reply to the commenter. If I think that it’s something that should be on the site I’ll copy what I wrote in the email and paste it into the comment area on my blog, or the other way around – comment pasted into email.

This will save a lot of time! Sometimes when I get a lot of comments I’ll just place a comment here and there on my site and not send an email to each person who left a comment, or I’ll reply here and there by email to comments. Now, I can reply to anyone that I want on the site and by email at the same time.

The only request that I’d love to have added to this plugin is that when it sends an email to a commenter it doesn’t include the blog url or the post url. I think that it would be helpful if it included that as well, because I’m sure that some people go around commenting on many sites and when they do get a reply by email, if they’d like to respond on the specific site clicking an email link would make it easier. Other than that I’m extremely pleased with this plugin.

Try this plugin out yourself. I really think that this is going to be one of those must have wordpress plugins.

Oh and if you enjoy it as much as I have so far offer Owen a small donation via Paypal. He definitely deserves it.
