Statcounter increases log size

by Tricia

Statcounter just increased the log size on their free accounts.

I’ve been using Statcounter on all of our sites mainly just to keep track of how many people have visited a particular site since I first installed Statcounter. In most cases I installed Statcounter within the first month of starting a blog so the numbers that you see in our statcounter badges on our sites are fairly accurate. Well, that is if statcounter is truly accurate of course.

I’ve got a free account at Statcounter. I’ve had it for more than a year. I’ve slowly added more and more sites to my account. Trouble was that the original Statcounter log size was only 100, which meant that I could only see where the last 100 visitors came from, as well as other stats such as what keyword search brought them to the site and so on.

In the beginning when our sites were getting less than 100 page views per day that was fine, but the majority of our sites get far more visitors that that each day now. Which means it was more of a novelty checking stats. I’d be able to see who visited perhaps in the last 4 to 6 hours rather than in the last 24+ hours.

The log size has just increased to 500. If you have an account there simply log into your account and click on the tool bar symbol next to your site listing, then find the “adjust log size” link. Click on the adjust log size link and change your log from 100 to 500.

Now that I’ve increased the log size on all of our sites I’ll be able to get a much better idea of what people are viewing when they visit our sites, how they got to our site and what they were searching for if they came in through a search engine.

Try it for yourself. It’s free.

From out of the blue comes a writing offer

by Tricia

I’m feeling out of sorts and kind of confused today. I’ve been trying my hardest to catch up on built up work, and to secure more internet/blog related work all day while fending off email!

I just received acceptance into BlogCritics but for the life of me, I don’t remember ever applying to be a writer there. It’s definitely an honor to be accepted, but the email kind of hit me from behind!

Actually I just got word back from Eric at Blogcritics and he was responding to a request that was actually written by my husband. You see, since I have more blogs than my husband I put him on promo duty a little while ago and he’s been working to get our sites listed in the various blog and RSS feed directories for the past month or so. I find lists of directories and put him on the job.

Well, it turns out BlogCritics was on one of the lists that I found and assigned to him and he wrote to the owner of the site hoping to get our blogs listed. He didn’t realize that he was applying for ME to become a writer/contributer there!

Well … they sound interested in having me do some writing over there so I might as well give it a try!

Kind of strange how that came about isn’t it? Well at least I know I didn’t apply and forget about it. It was my husband!

File Recovery software – recover files you’ve deleted

by Tricia

file-recovery-logo.gif It doesn’t happen too often to me, but there’s been times when I’ve deleted a file and then cleaned out the desktop recycling bin on my computer desktop only to realize moments later that I’ve made an awful mistake and deleted the wrong file.

Has that happened to you? Don’t you just hate it when it does?

Or what about the time you were working away on the computer and a thunder storm came up suddenly and caused the power to go out. When the power finally came back on you turned on your computer and found that the file you were working on wasn’t saved so you had to start all over again.

Come on, I know it’s happened. Admit it.

Well, wouldn’t you love it if there was a program that you could use on your computer that would 1. help you recover files or data that was deleted, damaged or destroyed due to formatting, an accidental deletion or even a virus attack? 2. How about if the software were also able to help recover a damaged disk partition?

Well, if you’re interested in a program that can do all that and a whole lot more you should think about getting Active File Recovery. As I was saying it’s a software program that will help you recover lost or damaged date, restore deleted photos, and documents and other forms of data, recover damaged partitions and help you reboot your computer when it’s crashed and won’t boot up on it’s own. This program is so good that it will even recover files from flash memory, and data that’s been lost due formatting a memory card.

The last time I mentioned a program in this blog that could fix a computer problem people told me they were too scared to go into that part of their computer. I think that program was to help fix a computers registry. Now, why would I tell you about a program that could fix your computer or recover deleted files if it was hard to use? I’m trying to make your life easier by telling you about these programs. That’s the beauty of Active File Recovery. It’s easy to use. It’s safe to use in fact, and is an efficient data recovery tool that you should use if you’ve lost important files.

If your system were to crash and you couldn’t get it to start again this program will help you with that too. The Active file recovery Enterprise installation package comes with a CD/DVD ISO image that you can burn in order to get a bootable CD or DVD with a lightweight version of Windows Vista that will run in RAM.

So instead of taking your computer into a repair shop who may simply wipe your hard drive clean when they repair your computer you can attempt to boot it up with the bootable CD or DVD and then use the Active File Recovery program to restore your lost and or damaged files.

When you consider how much it would cost to take your computer to a repair shop, and risk losing your data anyway, isn’t it worth spending as little as $29.95 for a software program that might quickly and easily get your computer up and running again and restore your files? Personally I’d want to give it a try.
