Pen scanners have been around for a while, but there’s a new one on the market that’s a true technological advancement.
Planon’s latest pen scanner is called the DocuPen. It’s both a scanner and high tech pen at once. It’s battery operated for full portability and it can store up to 100 pages in it’s memory scanning each in four to eight seconds.
Many of the previous pen scanners were slower and did not have the ability to scan graphics. The DocuPen does it all.
The current price of this high tech gadget is $270. The DocuPen has a USB interface, scans at a max of 200 x 200, weighs 2 oz, has an 8 MB flash memory, and works with Windows 98, ME, 2000 and XP.
All you need to do is place the DocuPen on a piece of paper parallel to the text and move the pen downward over the page. When you want to see what you’ve scanned just connect the pen scanner to a computer using the USB interface.
I could see sales people and those who are frequently out of the office at meetings finding this new DocuPen quite handy.

i hope this´ll become standard one day. but $270 is way too much! maybe it´s getting cheaper over the years. i´d buy one for…let´s say $50 or something.

Interesting “gadget”. Could ask if you don’t know in which format is the document saved? Thanks.

Dang that’s a pretty sweet gadget. I can’t imagine paying $270 for it, that seems really steep to me. I’m sure the price will come down in the future like everything else does.

And with that Mr. Bond stopped needing to carry around his cute Minox spy camera for all those Top Secret documents. Aah … the end of an era.

This is definitely an interesting and cool gadget. But is it really necessary? I think it’ll take quite some for it to catch any buzz in the main stream. Like you said, it’s probably more useful for business.

A very interesting thing! But with 270$ its way to expensive. Also 8Mb memory sounds too little to me.

I could use one of these. I am not the best typer and find it much easier to get out my thoughts with a pen. Thanks for the find. I agree. A bit too expensive, but I am sure they will come down in price. :stumbled:

The EcoButton is a cool USB gadget that saves you money and fights global warming! I can practically hear your tuts of disbelief back at Zath HQ. But seriously this little eco-friendly gizmo will do exactly that and even has the balls to gloat about it too!
