Technorati has a new look

by Tricia

Have you been to Technorati lately? It seems that they’ve totally changed their look in the last day or two. I went there to check on how my various sites were ranking, and here’s a look at what the page for my main site Tricia’s Musings at feverishthoughts.com looks like when you look up the domain in the directory:

I like the new look, but it seems like they cut out some of the info that was previously available, while trying to consolidate the majority of information about a site onto one page.

When I clicked on my user name – dragonden – I was taken to a page that looked similar to the one above, except all my blogs were listed in the right hand column, and each blog now has a bubble beside it that shows how many people have marked each of my sites as a favorite.

Speaking of favoriting sites. I sure would love it a few more people would favorite this site … but I’d love it even more if you’d mark Tricia’s Musings down as a favorite. I’d love to get that site into the top 100 technorati favs list but I need several more favs to get there.

BUMPzee – a social network community you’ll love

by Tricia

Have you joined the BUMPzee community yet? It’s a site that works a little bit like mybloglog or blogcatalog but I really enjoy the communities that you can develop over there.

I joined BUMPzee about a month ago, listed all of my sites and immediately went to find some great communities. Actually the main reason I visited BUMPzee in the first place was because I’d heard about the Do Follow community there. Naturally I joined the Do Follow community and added a number of my sites to it.

You see that’s the great thing about BUMPzee. When you join a community you can add your sites and excerpts from your blog get listed in the community. It’s a great way to help promote your site, and of course if you are active in the community you can make friends and promote your site that way too.

As I browsed the site to write this article I also discovered another cool feature. Since people can add their blogs to communities you can use the Blog Reader in your BUMPzee dashboard and read all the blog entries from the various communities that you’ve joined. When you find a great post you can visit it, or give it a bump (I believe this is like giving it a vote), or even leave a comment. You can do that anywhere on the BUMPzee site where blogs and blog posts are listed of course.

Just like the other social network communities that I mentioned above you can add people as your friends and keep track of what they are up to on their sites too.

I think BUMPzee might be the best combination of all the social networking sites I’ve been on. You should visit and give it a try. Oh yeah, if you want to visit me and add me as a friend my user name is dragonden. Visit my profile and go from there.

Of course, if you are a do follow blogger don’t forget that I started the Do Follow Bloggers blogroll too. You should get your site listed on that blogroll too!

Tech writing ideas?

by Tricia

This site is still on the new side and I’m trying to build up links to reliable sources of tech related information where I could possibly get some writing ideas.

Of course I still have lots of writing ideas as I’ve been discussing services and plugins that I use on my sites, and talking about new tech related topics that I hear about via email or by surfing other sites.

I was wondering though, for those of you who also have tech and gadget related blogs – where do you get most of your information?

I don’t want to to write this blog as in “so and so over at techdomain said …”. Why bother doing that? I’d just like to get some more ideas of things to write about.

I’ve signed up with Google news in order to have it send me tech and gadget related news items but I find that most of the email that I receive through Google news isn’t all that relevant. What else could I use or do to find information?
