Protect sensitive data with SecureZIP

by Tricia

I just downloaded a program from www.securezip.com called SecureZIP. I can now easily use this program to protect sensitive data on my computer or laptop from prying eyes.

“SecureZIP – The next generation of ZIP”

SecureZip is a data security software program that allows users to protect files and folders on their hard drives, portable storage devices, and laptops from theft or unauthorized access. Email attachments can also be protected with SecureZIP as well.

How does it work? It uses strong passphrase or digital certificate-based encryption to protect the files and folders that you want to secure. Secured files are also compressed when secureZIP is enforced.

I’m going to use the free copy of SecureZIP that I just downloaded to protect the tax files that I just finished completing yesterday. I’ll also use it to protect some of the spreadsheets that I use to record my earnings, as well as my banking statements and the medical files that I’ve stored on my hard drive.

Why do I need this kind of protection? It’s not like we have strangers walking through our house everyday … or is it?

We use a wireless router to provide an internet and network connection for our laptop. Wireless networks are not all that secure, and that means that anyone nearby or driving my in their car who actively trying to find an unsecured wireless network could tap into my internet connection and likely my network. See … I literally could have strangers traipsing through my files if I weren’t careful.

I have set up my wireless network with security protection, but if that were to fail all of my data could be vulnerable. Why take the chance? Now that I have this free software I can encrypt and compress the files on my system that deserve such protection.

I also like the fact that if I needed to send files to my accountant, the bank or perhaps my mortgage broker I could send them as an attachment in an email message since SecureZip integrates with Microsoft Outlook.

If you’d also like to protect sensitive files on your home or office systems or networks why don’t you download a copy of SecureZIP today? For a limited time they are offering fully licensed copies of their software. That’s right – it’s a full version. Not a limited or trial version of SecureZIP. It’s the full software program and it’s free.

Downloading the software was a snap. I just gave them my email address and minutes later I had an email message that contained a link that enabled me to download the software to my hard drive. The download was an .exe file so all I had to do was click on it to begin the installation and follow the directions that it gave me as it installed itself.

The website to dos checklist

by Tricia

Starting a website, setting it up properly and ensuring that everything works as it should is something that many people, especially those new to creating websites fail to do properly. I would recommend that anyone who is about to start a new website or blog read the Website To Dos site.

The page that I linked to above is basically a checklist, with full descriptions written in an easy to understand style, of all of the most important things that one should do from start to finish when creating and maintaining a website.

The checklist begins with the initial creation of your site and gives helpful information about deciding on the goals and audience of your site. The checklist then moves on to talking about how to focus the topics of your web pages, and then goes on to give you tips on optimizing your site with search engines in mind.

The checklist ends with a list and detailed information about “Web server to dos” such as setting up 404 pages to assist your visitors when a page is not found or when the url is mistyped. There’s even tips on customizing a 404 page, plus information on redirecting pages or specific urls.

I think everyone should take a look at this checklist of website to dos. I know those new to creating websites will get a lot out of it, but seasoned webmasters might also pick up a few tips or get a reminder of things they should be doing, but often skip during the process of creating a new site.
