Blogarama

As I’ve said before one good way to promote your site is to get it listed in a number of directories. If you have a niche website or blog it’s also a good idea to try to find specialty directories that list a number of sites similar to your own in topic or genre as well.

One general directory that you should list your blog is Blogarama. Just sign up for an account and you can list your site there free of charge. For the nominal fee of $10 you can change your free account to a premier account and receive better listings for your sites and a public profile for your account.

Sites are reviewed and approved by editors and it can take 1 to 10 days to have your site approved. You’ll receive an email once your site has been reviewed telling you if your site has been approved or rejected.

Once your site is listed in the directory it can be rated by other Blogarama visitors or members. Your site will be given a score that will be made up of user ratings, incoming and outgoing traffic. Placing a link to Blogarama on your site will allow Blogarama to track how many new visitors you send to their site – the more visitors you send the better your site rating will be in the directory.

In other words, if you send them visitors they’ll try to help you by rating your site higher and sending you visitors too since higher rated sites are listed near the top of each blog directory section.




Blogs Rater

I’ve been telling you about different sites that you can use to promote your site and I’d like to add BlogsRater.com to the list.

Just visit the site and submit your blog along with a short yet interesting description. Visitors to the site can rate and review your site. It’s a fast growing community and another way to get some more visitors, and much needed links for your site.

They even have a button that you can add to your sidebar in order to let your site visitors know that your site is listed at BlogsRater. Your visitors can go and rate your site for you too.

As an added bonus, if you write a 50 word review on the site for one of the other bloggers who has listed their site at BlogRater your link will be listed in their featured blog box for a total of 24 impressions.

Fuelmyblog

Have you heard of Fuelmyblog yet? I believe this site went public sometime in December 2006. Fuelmyblog is a site where you can advertise your blog or myspace page absolutely free.

The creators of Fuelmyblog provide a page that is filled with 625 40 px X 40 px squares. To advertise your site simply visit Fuelmyblog and select whichever square that you’d like to advertise your blog on.

When you click the square a pop up will ask if you’d like to ADD that square. Select the word ADD and fill out the form on the page that comes up.

You can supply an image that is no more than 500 kb in size. It will automatically be resized to 40 x 40 px, or if you don’t have a photo to use for your site you can select from a number of free images.

Once you’ve completed the information page you’ll be able to preview your square, if it looks fine submit the form. When you view the site after filling out the form you’ll see that the square you’ve selected now has an X in it meaning that it’s reserved for your space.

Usually within only a few hours you’ll find that your site is up and being advertised on Fuelmyblog.

This service is completely free. It was created as a way for people to find interesting blogs.

At the time of writing there are only 213 squares left on the main page. There are many more unfilled squares on their feature pages – More, Business, Life, and All Sorts.

I listed several of my sites on Fuelmyblog a couple of weeks ago, and when I look at my site stats I can see that I’ve been getting a few visitors each day from Fuelmyblog, for each of the blogs that I listed.

So what are you waiting for? Get over to Fuelmyblog before all those squares are filled up!
