WordPress Web Stats plugin

by Tricia

Have you heard about the new Webstats plugin that was developed for own domain WordPress blogs recently?

Blogs using the WordPress.com website for their blogs have always had access to WordPress blogstats but this new plugin now allows those of us using WordPress on our own domains to access these stats too.

I installed the plugin on all of our blogs a couple of days ago and so far I’ve found that the information is fairly accurate. I’ll have to test it out for a while longer before I can say that it’s either as good as the Statcounter stats that I use, or as accurate as webstats that comes with my web hosting package.

The only thing that I don’t like about it, is that to see the stats I have to go to the wordpress.com site. I’d rather see the stats in my own WP dashboard thank you very much.

Has anyone else tried this new WordPress Plugin? If so, how are you liking the results? Do you find them accurate or not?

New Plugins

by Tricia

Last week I spent a lot of time writing a number of Tech related posts on my main blog Tricia’s Musings. Why I’m not writing about these things here I’m not sure.

Anyway, I’ve slowly been installing a number of new plugins on my husband and I’s blogs. One of the plugins that I’ve recently started using on Tricia’s Musings in the Top Commentator plugin. I will discuss this plugin further on this site, but if you’d like to read what I wrote on Tricia’s Musings and see the plugin in action in the right sidebar go have a peek.

I’ve set up the top commentator plug in to list the top ten people who comment on my site each month in the right sidebar. So far my visitors are loving the plugin. Well the ones who are making it into the top ten are anyway.

I think I’ll do a whole series on the various plugins that I use on our blogs. If you are interested in learning more about wordpress plugins, especially the ones that I’m using on this site and others, please come back and visit in a few days.

How to place image code in a WordPress post

by Tricia

I’ve found that while a number of people have mastered the art of using their WordPress blog to write text based posts they often have trouble adding images. Since there are a lot of bloggers out there who are not true webmasters in the sense that they know how to write basic code I thought I’d occasionally write some easy to follow instructions.

How to place an image to a WordPress post:

In an earlier post I told you how to upload an image into a post. Here I will discuss how to center an image, or wrap text to the left or right of an image.

Note: This technique might work well with other blogging platforms too. I’m only writing it as wordpress instructions since that is the blogging platform that I’ve used the most.

To center a picture just either center it while you are in “rich text editor” mode, or put this extra code around the image code itself:

< p align="center" > image code < /p >

To have a photo to the left or right of a paragraph you must have the paragraph tags around the particular paragraph that you’re sticking the image in :

ie < p >text of paragraph < /p >

with your image code beside the first paragraph tag

< p > < image code > text < /p >

BUT … inside the image code simple put align=”left” or “right” near the img tag like this

< p > < img align="left" rest of image code .... < /p >

Please eliminate all of the spaces between the tag codes when you place this code on your site. For instance < p > shouldn’t have spaces between the < and > tags.

BTW hope this helps!
